How it works

Three steps, and none of them leaves your machine.

  1. Drop your file

    Drag a workbook or a CSV onto the page. Your browser reads it and it lives in the tab's memory: not one byte goes over the network.

  2. Check, then run

    The tool shows what it understood (columns, duplicates, encoding, problems found) and offers only its own settings. One button, which says what it does.

  3. Save the result

    The output file goes from the tab's memory to your disk. It is the only file that moves, and you alone decide.

What it does not do

The section no competitor writes, and it is worth more than one more promise.

  • It is not a spreadsheet. You apply tasks to a file; you do not edit cells one by one.
  • Old .xls files (Excel 97-2003) are not read yet. Any spreadsheet saves them as .xlsx in two clicks.
  • A workbook with an opening password stays closed. Nothing is cracked.
  • Formulas are not recalculated. The values read and carried over are the ones Excel saved at its last calculation.
  • Everything fits in the tab's memory, except large CSV files, which are read from disk in chunks. A workbook of several hundred megabytes can exceed what a browser allows a page.
  • Klargrid is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft. Excel is a Microsoft trademark; the word here refers to the files the tool handles.

Why this site exists

Online tools all ask for the same thing: your files. A payroll file, a trial balance, a customer database, uploaded to a stranger, processed on their servers, "deleted within the hour", promised. Excel add-ins, for their part, need an installation and rights that company workstations do not grant. Klargrid needs neither. What we do instead.
