Advanced find and replace in an Excel workbook
Excel's find and replace knows no regular expressions, does not sweep every sheet at once and shows nothing before acting. Here you search a text or a pattern, see every affected cell, and replace everywhere, in the text as in the formulas.
What this tool does
- A regular expression (\d+, groups, alternatives) or a text taken literally.
- Every sheet at once; match case and whole cell, as you choose.
- In cell text and/or in formulas (rename a range, change a function name).
- A preview of every match, before and after, before saving.
- The workbook is preserved: only the affected cells change, the rest comes out untouched.
What it does not do: The replacement covers text and formulas, not the number format nor the numeric values themselves. A changed formula has its value recalculated by Excel on open.
